A Historic Moratorium

Addressing systemic anti-Black racism in the public service.

Saron Gebresellassi led an internal investigation into the root causes of systemic anti-Black racism in the Ontario Public Service workplace.

The work resulted in a moratorium on the firing and suspension of Black and racialized civil servants.

Rather than addressing complaints one at a time, the investigation looked at root causes, and the remedy applied across the institution.

This matter is described as it appears in the public record. The mandates of the Private Office are not disclosed.
