Saron Gebresellassi assembled a team of four pro bono lawyers to represent the parents of an infant in a contested hearing over the withdrawal of life support at the Hospital for Sick Children.
The Consent and Capacity Board is Ontario’s independent tribunal for disputes about treatment decisions, including disagreements between health practitioners and the people who make decisions on a patient’s behalf.
In a matter of this gravity, the parents’ perspective had to be fully represented before the tribunal. The family’s privacy is respected, and nothing beyond the public record is described here.
